4th of July Safety Tips from Kerlin Motor Company

As we gear up to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, cookouts, and road trips, your friends at Kerlin Motor Company want to remind you that safety never takes a holiday. We’ve been serving our community since 1927 — and nothing matters more to us than making sure your family is safe while you celebrate.

Fireworks Safety

Leave the big fireworks to the pros. Attend a local show instead of lighting your own.
If you do use legal consumer fireworks, never let children handle them.
Always keep a bucket of water or hose nearby.
Light fireworks one at a time, never relight a “dud,” and keep your distance.

Grill with Care

Grill outdoors only, away from structures and overhanging branches.
Keep kids and pets at least 3 feet away from the grill area.
Never leave a hot grill unattended.
Clean your grill regularly to prevent grease fires.

Road Trip Smart

Buckle up every time. It’s simple but life-saving.
Don’t drink and drive — designate a driver or use a ride service.
If you're towing a boat, camper, or trailer, double-check your connections and brake lights.
Take breaks on long drives to stay alert and avoid fatigue.

Beat the Heat

Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
Don’t leave kids or pets in parked vehicles — not even for a minute.
Use shade, fans, and light clothing to avoid heatstroke.
